Where should I go?

“Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” – John 6:68-69

I work sometimes in an Alzheimer’s unit at a nursing home. There is a little dutch woman whom I adore. But she continuously says, “Where should I go?” Her short term is of course extremely short, so I know that in a couple more minutes I will get the same question and I have to come up with an answer. I usually lead her to her room, so that she can rest comfortably in her bed, and in another short while, I will undeniably have to do the same thing. Sometimes I will give her a snack, or sit her with someone I think she will enjoy talking to. There are many ways to redirect; however, the point is she is always anxious, lost and looking for answers.

According to John 6:68-69, we are not to be anxious about where we are, where are going, or what we will eat etc. We can look in many places for answers, the world has so many different belief systems It’s no wonder people are confused and give up. But, there is no confusion when it comes to God’s word. So with that said, we are are to trust God’s leading, and whenever we steer off track or become confused (no matter how many times) we can have faith in His word to lead us and get us back on track. We simply need to seek him out, He’s always there waiting. Our help comes from the Lord. (Psalm 121:2) Elvis sang it beautifully.
