Year of the Lord’s favor

“They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.”- Isaiah 61:4

September 11 is a day no one will soon forget. On that tragic day in 2001, we watched a city, and a world torn to pieces. A tragedy of the twin towers being destroyed, taking many lives along with it by the hand of evil. Many hearts were broken, and lives shattered. It would seem in times of such tragedy that nothing can ever rebuild from such devastation; that nothing beautiful can come out of the ashes.

A great memorial was built after September 11th, showing that something beautiful can happen. “Unity.” (Ephesians 4:3) Through this, the beauty of the human spirit, arose from the ashes.

To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning.”- Isaiah 61:3

It makes it very difficult to look forward to a brighter day when we go through tragedy in life, and we tend to live for years in despair, trudging forward with no hope in sight. We may never forget tragedies that happen in our lives; however, God is there to help us rebuild and move forward.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten– the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm — my great army that I sent among you. – Joel 2:25

God has a plan for each of our lives, and nothing can stop that plan. We may lose loved ones along the way, but it is not the end. We need to keep eternity in our hearts. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) This is not our place of rest; we are simply on a journey. We can take God’s favor with us, and proclaim it in every effort and step we take, knowing that God is leading us. He cares about every detail of our lives and well being. (Psalm 37:23)

“He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.” – Isaiah 61:2

Make this year, the year you move forward and grab onto God’s promises! For they are yea and amen. (2 Corinthians 1:20) Proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and allow Him to direct your steps to victory. Let nothing be in vain. Often times tragedy can pull us down can cause us to die spiritually if we don’t keep a hold of God’s hand. If we keep our eyes on Jesus, and off our circumstance, He can heal our hearts and cause us to move forward in a positive way. He can repay us for the years the locust have eaten, and give us new sight into our futures. March into the enemy’s camp and take what is rightfully yours! The lepers in (2 Kings 7) decided to give themselves a fighting chance at life, so can you. This is the day the Lord has made; rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24) Today is a new day. Sorrow may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)

“Now there were four men with leprosy sitting at the entrance of the city gates. “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other. – 2 Kings 7:3

“Proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” – Isaiah 61:2
