Show Me A Sign

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.” – Mark 15:17

When you are a new believer; you are full of fresh faith, and excited to see what God will do. On earth we see the rainbow as a sign of a rainstorm’s end, a bird’s song to signify the beginning of spring, and leaves to fall and change color as a sign that fall is near. God used the rainbow as a sign back in Noah’s day that He would no longer flood the earth.

“I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.” – Genesis 9:13

Sometimes God gives clear and easy signs to see when we need them, and sometimes we require faith to see what is intangible. Earthquakes are easy to see and feel (Luke 21:11) But sometimes we really have to be in the spirit to see and hear what God is trying to tell and show us.

When I was filled with the holy spirit, I spoke in a new tongue. Being a new Christian I had no former teaching of this, so that was a sure sign to myself others that what the word said was absolutely true. (Mark 15:17)

“Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” – John 20:30-31

The purpose of John’s Gospel was to tell us stories so that we might believe also. “Faith comes by hearing.” (Romans 10:17) It’s up to us to tell people, so they may also believe.

When Mary Magdalene saw that the tomb was empty, she was in despair; however, when Jesus appeared to her, she was moved to tell others what she had seen. Thomas didn’t believe right away, and it is hard for the human mind to comprehend spiritual things. Jesus is compassionate and understanding of this. Sometimes we need to pray for our unbelief. (Mark 9:24)

“Seeing is believing,” is a common phrase. Jesus still took it upon himself to challenge Thomas’ faith, so that he might also believe. God will often choose something specific to you, to help your unbelief. Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” – John 20:29

Spring is on it’s way, I see signs of it everywhere. I wait tirelessly for it, but I KNOW it’s coming. The Lord created all the miracles and beauties around us. If you are asking God for a sign today in regards to some area in your life, simply be still before the Lord and wait. Take time to gaze upon the beauties of the miracles and signs already around you, and wait on the Lord for his answer. He already has the solution before we ask. Some of the things God does for us we miss, because we are looking for a sign, instead of trusting that God has already done what we have asked. He is always behind the scenes. Sometimes He remains silent to test our faith. Blessed are those that have not yet seen but believed. (John 20:29) There is a time and a season for everything under heaven. If God has promised something it will happen.

“This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.” – Habakkuk 2:3

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1

“After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.” Mark 16:19-20
