    Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.     Point of reference

    Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. Ephesians 2:19-20 According to Merriam Webster “Point of Reference” is a fixed point, or a place or thing, that is used to judge or understand something. Wikipedia describes a cornerstone (foundation stone or setting stone) as the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation.
