Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
I love home improvement shows. The idea of seeing old abandoned homes get torn down and made like new. When we come to Jesus, or return to Him, He does the exact same thing. He takes away the destruction that sin caused and creates a new man; or restores us to our original design. Transformation can be a difficult process, but it is necessary. We must break down old thought patterns, old habits, and wrongful teachings. If the foundation is not secure the house will not stand. We must diligently seek God and study His word (Hosea 4:6). Sometimes we need to start from scratch. It is called being born again, because that is exactly what is happening. We are adopted into the family of Christ and taught a new and better way to live. We may breakdown and need repair at times, but God expects that, and has all the tools needed to fix us back up. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
The enemy likes to use our minds as an avenue to try and build up towers of imagination to block our view of who God is and His purposes; to block our vision of what could be. We must recognize this and send these thoughts captive to Christ before it creates a stronghold. In Genesis, after God wiped out the earth with a flood, the people had a chance to start over from scratch and multiply the earth, restoring God’s perfect order. The people disobeyed God and started to build a tower just in case another flood occurred. They exalted a tower of their own will out of pride and lack of faith, but God tore it down. Anything not of God will be torn down. (Acts 5:35-40)
The new year is coming, and as the adage of old states, “Out with the old and in with the new!” It’s demo day!
