For such a time as this

For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Esther 4:14

If Esther chose to sit back and become passive to Gods call, God would have moved on to someone else. His purpose will always come to pass, but her life’s purpose would have passed her by. We must be careful not to become so complacent in our walk with God, that we cannot hear His voice when He calls us forward. Most importantly we must respond to that call. When God calls us, He doesn’t wait for our idea of the perfect time or circumstance. His ways are perfect (Psalm 18:30) You may feel as though you are not perfect yet, or perhaps you feel it is too late in life, so God cannot use you. He is not expecting perfection, but He is looking for our willingness. (Isaiah 6:8). Our imperfections teach us to rely on Him, so we do not boast in ourselves, but give Him glory (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Esther was a simple beauty, yet somehow the king noticed her above the others and made her his queen. We may not feel like the best candidates to do a work for God, but He has chosen us to be kings and priests for the Kingdom. (Revelation 1:6) We have captured the King’s heart. He is now expecting that we will accept His proposal and walk forward by faith. We sometimes live in condemnation, struggling to forgive ourselves, or struggle to believe that God could ever love us. (John 3:16) If we rely on our flesh and emotions, then condemnation and fear will overtake us. If we walk according to the spirit, and put on Christ, we are successful against this type of thinking. (Romans 8:1; Galatians 3:27)

Esther responded to the call and was used by God in a mighty way. She was also given God’s favor. God will not give you a task without fully equipping you to carry it out. It is not by might, or by power, but by my spirit says the Lord. (Zechariah 4:6) We as the body of Christ, have been called to the kingdom for such a time as this…
