    Are we there yet?

He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also, he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 God’s creation is perfect. It’s fascinating to watch a caterpillar go through the stages to become a butterfly. We go through many stages in life. Metamorphosis has four stages: Egg, Larva, Pupa, and Adult. When the caterpillar (immature larva) are birthed they need to eat a lot. The mother is careful to lay her eggs on the leaf that she wants her children to eat from, because that is the very leaf the caterpillar…

    Tough Love

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 Merriam Webster defines, “tough love,” as an affectionate concern expressed in a disciplinary manner to promote responsible behavior. We use the term, “tough love,” because it is hard to love at times. As the family of God, or any family for that matter, we are going to have conflict. At times it is easy to love, and other times we must work at it. T.F. Hodge said, “Tough love may be tough to give, but it is a necessity of life and assurance of positive growth.” The Lord chastises those He LOVES (Hebrews…

    It is Finished!

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30 (NIV) Tetelestai (τετέλεσται), is a Greek word that means “Finished.” It is also known as a word that was stamped on tax receipts indicating, “paid in full.” When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He was saying to His Father, “their debt is paid in full!” When Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn in two (Matthew 27:51). The veil was there to separate sinful men from entering the holy of holies. Man was separated from the presence of God because of their sin. Only the High Priest could enter the…

    Show and Tell

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. John 13:14 Jesus love is something of a mystery. We can strive to learn how to love like He loves, but we can never out love the Lord. Agape love “charity” is a love that is freely given. It is a compassionate and selfless love; sacrificial love. Love is a fruit of the spirit, meaning it is an outward expression of what is on the inside. A love that only the Holy Spirit can produce in us (Galatians 5:22). We struggle sometimes to love like Christ because we haven’t learned how to love, and sometimes we…

    War and Peace

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3:8 This Sunday is Mother’s Day – a day when we honor our earthly Mothers. I was watching the news the other day and saw yet another school shooting in the US. It showed Mothers crying over their children which is extremely hard to watch. We are sometimes so far removed because war nowadays has become something of a “norm.” I have been thinking a lot about Israel lately – the motherland; the birthplace of Christianity. We seem so far removed from Israel, but she is a big part of our lives.…
