The Miracle Minute

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” Acts 2:17

Some people do not believe in miracles, but we are all a part of one big miracle. Look around, we are standing on a miracle – planet earth. We ourselves are walking miracles! God created everything from nothing using words. Science says that something cannot come from nothing; therefore, the only explanation is that it is a miracle. God is in everything that lives and breathes (Psalm 19:1). Paul stated in (1 Corinthians 13:2) that there are many things we will never be able to fully understand or explain. In a 2001 basketball game between the Duke Blue Devils and Maryland Terrapins, the Duke Blue Devils called their winning victory, “The Miracle Minute.” They were down by ten points with only one-minute left in the game. The commentator shouted, “they need a miracle!” Well, in one minute the team made a miraculous comeback! Tim Tebow in a 2009 football game wrote John 3:16 under his eyes. According to his stats he passed for 316 yards, averaged 31.6 yards per pass, and his CBS rating peaked at 31.6. You don’t have to understand football to see God’s hand behind this one. After a winning victory, John 3:16 became the most searched term in Google!

Pentecost Sunday is quickly approaching. Happy Birthday to the Church! In (Acts 2) we read about how, “suddenly!” a wind came from heaven and filled the upper room, and the people were filled with the Holy Ghost and Fire, with evidence of speaking in unknown tongues. God can change your life in an instant! God is still pouring out His Spirit today. It is a miraculous gift and necessity for the body of Christ – the Church! All we need to do is receive it. The bible says signs and wonders follow those that believe (Mark 16:17-18). The Holy Spirit transforms us and unites us as a Church by the same spirit – Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:13). We are in the last days; we know not the time or the hour of Jesus return (Matthew 25:13). We need to be ready because we are not promised a tomorrow (James 4:14). The time is now!

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Acts 2:38
