SOS!

Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. (Exodus 14:13-14)

Israel was crying out to God for rescue. There was no way forward and no way back. God heard their cry and He answered. Moses heard, and then acted upon the word of the Lord. He stretched his hand out in faith, and God parted the waters. Israel then “walked into” their miracle (Exodus 14:26-31). First, we must have faith in the word of God. If God says He will do it, He will do it! Then, when He throws you a lifeline; do not hesitate, grab onto it! God made a way for Israel, but He required action on their part. They had to “walk through” the waters; with much ease I might add. God made a way for our salvation, we just need to “walk” in it (John 14:1-6). Be alert for that window of opportunity (Isa 43:16-19). In the 1900’s ‘SOS’ became the International Morse Code Distress Signal. It is used in situations where loss of life or property is imminent. SOS doesn’t stand for anything, but people associate it with ‘Save Our Souls’ or ‘Save Our Ship’. When the disciples were in the ship and the waves became fierce, they cried to the Lord, and He calmed their fears (Matthew 8:23-27, Psalm 34:4). They must have forgot WHO was in the ship with them! How easily we doubt God (Matthew 8:26). The Apostle Paul told the men during a fierce storm on route to Rome to stay on the ship where it was safe (Acts 27:31). Stay on the boat with the Lord! Trust Him to lead you no matter how things seem. Fear can stunt us and delay our miracle. He has not called us to a state of fear. He has called us to be courageous! (Joshua 1:9).

In Genesis 19:16, Lot was told to leave the city about to be destroyed (his home) but he hesitated out of fear. The Lord had compassion on Lot and saved him anyways. He rescues us because He delights in us (Psalm 18:19). Don’t be afraid to make a move, the Lord has our back! (Exodus 14:19; Isaiah 30:21). God has parted many waters and is still parting them today. He is with us in those deep waters (Isaiah 43:2). We need to repent of our fear. If God is parting waters for you, move! Your miracle may be waiting on the other side of fear, or that storm/hard situation you find yourself in!

“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” Nora Roberts
