Fool’s Gold – Silence is Golden, Duct Tape is Silver

Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard rather than the shout of a ruler of fools. Ecclesiastes 9:17.

In medieval times news was spread by a ‘town crier.’ “Hear Ye!” Now you can push a few buttons and speak without uttering a word. Can silence speak louder than words? There is so much information out there it’s hard to sift fact from fiction. I heard a joke recently about a couple who invited their pastor for dinner. After dinner the wife noticed a spoon missing and wondered if the Pastor took it. A year later they had dinner again, and she asked, “Pastor did you steal our spoon?” He replied, “No, I put it in your bible.” Are you seeking truth? Are your blessings being stolen? Feel like God is silent? Open your bible! God is always speaking but we allow too many voices to confuse us (1 Cor 14:33). Duct tape is a temporary fix, but we need to learn discernment! If I told you I knew where to find Gold, you would probably grab a shovel and go! God has written letters, packed full of wisdom! I heard its worth its weight in gold! Proverbs 16:16 says, Gold is better than silver, meaning wisdom is greater than wealth. Iron pyrites is known as fool’s gold (fake gold). The Pharisees paraded the streets like a town crier, proclaiming God’s word, yet caused much destruction (Eccl 9:18). The Devil knows the word of God and he will twist it and polish it to deceive you! ‘All that glitters is not gold!’ Jesus was tempted by the devil, to which He said, ‘It is written!’ Do you know the word of God? I have never heard so many Christians use the word karma! Karma is not of God! What if Jesus said, “too bad for you, karma is a ____.” Jesus says, “father forgive them!” (Luke 23:34) Evil doesn’t defeat evil; good does (Rom 12:21). Words have a lot of power (Prov 18:21). Think before speaking!

Even silent fools have more wisdom (Prov 17:28) A wiseman’s heart is at his right hand; but a fool’s heart is at his left (Eccl 10:2). In politics the Conservatives (right wing) operate based on traditional values; wisdom of old. Liberals (left wing) are open minded; changing to suit new age ideas. If you don’t stand firm for something, you will fall for anything! (Eph 4:14) With so many versions of truth, we need to seek wisdom from God (James 1:5). Golden rule: Test everything you hear to see if it lines up to God’s word, the Gold standard! (1 Thess 5:20-22, 1 John 4:1).

“Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you.” Acts 3:6
