    Show and Tell

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. John 13:14 Jesus love is something of a mystery. We can strive to learn how to love like He loves, but we can never out love the Lord. Agape love “charity” is a love that is freely given. It is a compassionate and selfless love; sacrificial love. Love is a fruit of the spirit, meaning it is an outward expression of what is on the inside. A love that only the Holy Spirit can produce in us (Galatians 5:22). We struggle sometimes to love like Christ because we haven’t learned how to love, and sometimes we…

    War and Peace

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3:8 This Sunday is Mother’s Day – a day when we honor our earthly Mothers. I was watching the news the other day and saw yet another school shooting in the US. It showed Mothers crying over their children which is extremely hard to watch. We are sometimes so far removed because war nowadays has become something of a “norm.” I have been thinking a lot about Israel lately – the motherland; the birthplace of Christianity. We seem so far removed from Israel, but she is a big part of our lives.…

    Do Not Lose Heart

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2 Corinthians 4:1 Rest assured that when you do a work for the Lord adversity will come. It is easy to buckle under the pressures of life, and enemy schemes. You will want to quit many times, and may fall, but we are commanded not to lose heart. If you fall, get back up (Proverbs 24:16). What has God asked of you? Jesus had a task to do also – save the world! That is one big request! But nothing is too big for God to overcome. He overcame death! He took on every sin, emotion, sickness,…

    The “F” Word

The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked. Proverbs 24:16 I love the “F” word. I used to hate it because it sounded awful coming out of my mouth, but it really is a very effective one when used properly. The word I’m talking about is “Failure.” Failure is a part of life and it can be your greatest asset. How would you know true victory if you haven’t first learned the alternative? You must fall in order to learn how to get up. If a baby were to stop trying to walk after it fell a few times, it would never learn to walk. It’s like trial and error – finding the best way to accomplish what you set out to…

    Keep your fork!

This day came ye out in the month Abib. And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month. Exodus 13:4-5 Abib is a word that means – ear of grain. Abib is the first month of the Jewish calendar corresponding to our March/April. This time is significant as it was around this time the Israelite’s were led out of Egypt into a land flowing with milk and honey. Spring is significant…

    Ready, Set, Go!

“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.” Genesis 12:1-2 When Abram received the call from God, he was not given many specific details on how God’s promises would come to pass, just that they would. He told him to, “Go!” We all hate change, and have trouble leaving our comfort zones, but it is necessary. “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a…

    The Secret Place

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 There are times when life is absolute chaos. Our natural human response to trouble is “fight or flight.” Face the issue or run from it. What we choose depends on the situation, but there is another option in between “fight or flight” that we sometimes neglect. It is a powerful place that as Christians we can resort to in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Sometimes we just need to be still before the Lord (Psalm 46:10). When our fight or flight response is in overdrive it causes stress…

    Hook, Line, and Sinker

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:15 The expression “Hook, Line, and Sinker” was birthed in 1865. Literally it means the fish took not only the bait, but swallowed the hook, line, and sinker whole. If someone played a trick on you and you fell for it immediately, they might say you fell for it hook, line and sinker! Fish are sometimes smart and will test things out before biting. Others just impulsively go for whatever is dangled in front of them. They face a moment of decision; one that is a matter of life or death.…

The rock and the hard place – the “but” in the valley.

And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines. And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. 1 Samuel 17:2-3 The saying, “I’m between a rock and a hard place,” is a place of two possibilities, neither of which seems acceptable. The place we are at seems like it is hard enough but getting to the place we want to be can seem harder. We know God is on both sides as He is everywhere, but when we…

    Working, Watering, Warning

According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 1 Corinthians 3:10 The Church (the body of Christ) is God’s design. Paul was used by God as an architect to establish the foundation of the church; a foundation that cannot be changed by man (1 Corinthians 3:11). Paul worked to plant the seed for the church, Apollos oversaw watering the seed, but God was the one who gave the increase. (1 Corinthians 3:6) God created the body and gave us instructions on how…
